Biography

  I was born in 1945 and did a degree at Chelsea Art School from 1963-1967.

Since then I have been working continuously (meanwhile marrying, having three children, doing various kinds of teaching and illustrating). Until about 1990 I worked slowly and almost furtively. The decision to organise an exhibition at Vortex, Stoke Newington in 1990 began a period of exhibiting which in itself fed into the development of my work.

I have had exhibitions at Diorama, London (1993 and 1995); the Rising Sun Art Centre, Reading (1994); the Daylight Gallery, Wandsworth (1995); the Mary Ward Centre, London (1995); Tavistock Centre, London (2000); Library Gallery, Stoke Newington (2000); New Hall College, Cambridge (2000); the Smith Art Gallery, Brighouse (2001); the Shoreditch Gallery, Hoxton (2002); Phoenix Gallery, Exeter (2003); Millennium City Gallery, University of Wolverhampton (2004); Nunnery Gallery, Bow (2005); Tricycle Gallery, London, (2006); The Gallery, Amhurst Terrace, London (2009); Conditions - aaan exhibition organised by Shetland Arts at Bressay Lighthouse, May 5 - June 24 2018.

Group shows include ‘The Way We Live Now’, Gardner Centre Brighton (1995); ‘Plant’ Stroud House Gallery, Stroud (1998); Hunting Art Prizes (1999 and 2000); ‘Landmarks 111’, Lowood Gallery, Cumbria (2006); Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (2001 and 2007);
